SOLAR-POWERED CAR PROJECT
Purpose of the Project
The purpose of this project is to demonstrate the conversion of solar energy into electrical
energy through a concrete model and to highlight the importance of renewable energy
sources.
It aims to help students develop environmental awareness, recognize the environmental
damage caused by fossil fuels, and learn how alternative energy sources can be used in
daily life. In addition, students are expected to learn the basic principles of electrical circuits
and energy conversion through hands-on practice.
Materials Used
Small-scale solar panel
DC motor
Rechargeable battery
Lithium charging circuit
Wheels (toy car wheels)
Cardboard for the car body
Connecting wires
Remote control
Hot glue gun
Recyclable materials
Recycling and Environmental Benefits
In this project, materials such as cardboard, old toy car parts, and a remote control are
selected from recycled products, contributing to the reduction of waste. Since solar energy
is a renewable and clean energy source, it does not emit harmful gases into the
environment.
It helps reduce the use of fossil fuels and contributes to the prevention of air pollution.
By seeing that waste materials can be reused, students gain awareness of sustainable living.
Conclusion
As a result of this project, students learn through practice how solar energy is used to
generate electricity. When the solar panel receives light, it produces electricity; the
generated electricity charges the batteries, runs the motor, and the car moves. Thus, energy
conversion is observed in a concrete way. The project both develops scientific thinking
skills and emphasizes the importance of environmentally friendly technologies. It is
concluded that solar-powered vehicles may be used more widely in the future.
